Padel was born in Mexico in the 70s, when a certain Enrique Corcuera decided to build a tennis court in his home, but, having a very small space, he used an area delimited by walls and some metal parts.
Many times you will have wondered why Padel is called that, so we will explain it to you.
The name originally comes from Spanish, which is the adaptation of the English Paddle , which literally means " paddle ", the first term used to indicate the wooden rackets used many years ago.
There are, however, conflicting versions regarding the birth of this game; in fact, some maintain that the game was actually created, starting in 1898, by an American reverend in Michigan, who called it that precisely because of the shape of the racket with a solid face, defined in the original language as " Padel raquet ".
The great expansion took place in Spain, where a prince had a course built very similar to the one built by Corcuera, giving his guests the opportunity to try this new game.
Today, Padel has at least 12 million players, distributed in 78 countries, and in the next few years it will be included in the 5 rings, thus being able to be an Olympic sport in all respects.
